Scripture
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14

What a weekend last weekend was! TWO edge-of-your-seat matches watching Andy Murray’s journey to becoming the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years. There is talk of a knighthood and general consensus is that it is well deserved. He has trained incredibly hard and persevered to win this momentous goal.
In the same way, Paul encourages us to train hard as we ‘press on towards the goal’. Training requires discipline, ignoring distractions and hard work. But there are rewards a long the way – a closer connection to God, a great knowledge of His love for us & His guidance on our lives.
How’s your training regime looking?
Prayer (as a couple)
Lord Jesus, we’re excited to be in this race for you! Help us to keep on training, even when we’re tired & worn out. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Lord Jesus, we pray for ______ and _____. They seem to have got distracted from the race. Please help them to refocus on you & the goal ahead. Amen
Final note
We would like to take the opportunity here to mention our partner organisation FamilyLife who have been training hard for a mammoth 1000 mile fundraising cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats. They will be starting out tomorrow (13 July).
Please pray for energy & safety for them & consider supporting them financially here.
