Plant the good seeds of righteousness and you will harvest a crop of love.  Plough up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.  Hosea 10 v 12

Comment

It’s spring. I have sprouting seed potatoes on my window sills! My husband is on the allotment – he has a plan and he’s busy preparing for the growing season. This is the 40th year of our marriage. What are we “planting”? What will we “harvest”? And you?

This got me thinking:

  • If I plant selfish actions – I will harvest isolation.
  • If I plant mercy – I will reap generosity – not just personally but in my marriage.
  • If I plant criticism – I will reap defensiveness and a closed heart.

Could you discuss this together? Planning for a good harvest is important in spring.

Prayer (as a couple)

Lord God of creation and harvest- we bring this season of our life together to you. Please give us insight about the seeds we are planting. Help us to reflect on this together so that we may take action and enjoy a plentiful harvest of goodness in our life together. Amen

Prayer (for others)

Pray for marriages in your wider family – your parents, your children, your siblings Pray for them by name. Lord we pray for insight about sowing and reaping for each marriage. Help each one to cultivate a beautiful and productive garden this year and for the future. Amen.
