In the last year, there’s been a lot of tough stories in the news about the uk government covering up illegal gatherings and parties. Last month the Prime Minister was eventually forced to resign.
As couples we are committed to healthy openness in everything from diaries to finances because what we do affects each other profoundly. Praying together helps maintain openness. We can’t hide or have secrets from the Lord: we have to be honest before him, but also with each other. When we hide stuff from each other – it usually blocks our intimacy.
So – do you have “anything to declare”?
Find time to share – to explain and then pray together about any hidden secrets that might otherwise come between you.
Prayer (as a couple)
Father search our hearts. Give us courage to be open and vulnerable with each other, Help us deal with issues that get between us, help us to grow in integrity and also in grace and forgiveness. Lord teach us to walk in the light together and not to lurk in the shadows Amen.
Prayer (for others)
Lord Jesus – you are the light of the world – so bright that you said people avoided you sometimes because their deeds were evil. We pray for our communities where many things that were hidden are now being exposed. Help your people to welcome your light and to be be full of your forgiveness and grace rather than criticism and judgment. Amen
