“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me? watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28 MSG

Whilst this season has been hugely demanding for key workers, for many of the rest of us it has been a season of enforced slowing down.
In John Mark Comer’s book The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, he talks about being told ‘Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life’. It has been interesting for us to eliminate hurry in this season and it’s something we’re contemplating as things ease up.
I love the way God whispers to us in this verse ‘Get away with me & I’ll show you rest’.
How will you incorporate continued rest as things ease up?
Let’s ‘keep company with God & learn to live freely & lightly’.
Prayer (as a couple)
Share your thoughts on how you can plan intentional rest together. Maybe keeping a sabbath day? Commit this to God.
Prayer (for others)
Pray for a couple that you know are very pressured by business. Ask God to bring His rest to them.
