We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.2 Corinthians 4:8

Comment

Every couple hits rough patches — illness, loss, conflict, disappointment, change. The myth is that strong couples avoid these things. The truth is: strong couples get through them — together.

Resilience doesn’t mean pretending everything’s fine. It means facing the hard together. It’s in those moments of tension, exhaustion, or grief that we choose again — to stay, to reach out, to forgive, to hope.

We’ve found that resilience in marriage often grows not in the highs but in the holding-on — in the quiet faith that we’ll find our way through this. And we do.

Reflection

What storms have you weathered together? What helped you get through? What strength has grown from the struggle?

Prayer (as a couple)

God, thank you for the ways we’ve come through hard things together. Give us strength for what’s ahead, grace for our limits, and faith that we are not alone. Amen.

Prayer (for another couple)

We pray for _____ and _____ — in whatever they’re facing, give them courage and comfort. Help them to stand together and not give up. Amen.

Final quote

Resilience isn’t built in the easy days. It’s forged in the choosing, over and over again, to stay connected when it would be easier to turn away.
