I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do, forgetting what is behind, and straining to what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13

How often do we go back over things that have gone wrong in the past in our relationship, when we have hurt each other or let each other down? God wants us to forgive each other and then forget what is past and press on toward the ‘prize’. Once we have dealt with an issue we must resist the temptation to go over it again.
Today, why not make the decision together to give each other a fresh start and trust that we will learn together with God’s help.
Prayer (as a couple)
Father, help us to learn from the mistakes we have made in our relationship with each other and move on to better things. When negative thoughts come in of some past and already forgiven; may we be able to hand them over to you and leave them with you, then we can move on into all you have for us. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father, we pray for ___ and ___ who often seem to be ‘raking over’ the past, please help them to tackle the issue, forgive each other and move on to the ‘prize’ of a blessed marriage. Amen
