Comment
In recent eprayers we’ve been looking at things to STOP doing to allow our relationships to flourish. Now it’s time to look at what we are to do.
Our passage today finishes at v21, and in the challenging verses that follow v 21 husbands and wives are given instructions as to how to do marriage God’s way. But the verses above set the scene. It seems that these verses describe a platform on which we build our relationships.
What leaps out at you when you read these verses?
In what areas do you need the Holy Spirit to strengthen your marriage platform?
Prayer (together)
Dear Father God, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Through Him help my soul and every particle in my God to worship and praise and give thanks to you. I’m sorry that sometimes I am not full of praise and worship, please help me to change. Lord fill me afresh with the Holy Spirit so that I can do this in a new way and also so that I can submit my will to my partner in a healthy way and helping him / her to be the man / woman you made them to be. Lord this will require me to give out of reverence to Jesus, wisely, unselfishly and unconditionally, help me I pray. Amen.
Prayer (for others)
Dear Father God, We lift up …. and …. to you. We pray that you will fill them afresh with the Holy Spirit, that their hearts will overflow with gratitude, praise and worship and that they will choose to submit to one another out of reverence to Jesus in a way that grows them and their marriage and pleases you. Amen.
