It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)

Amazing! I’m part of God’s overall purpose and so is my spouse – and so is our marriage.
As we deal with the everyday issues of life (the worries, disappointments, irritations) it can be difficult at times to remember that. We can focus so intently on the problem areas in our marriage (Will we have enough money? Will we be able to resolve this conflict?) that we lose sight of our potential together.
Of course we have to deal with these issues, but it can be inspiring to consciously lift our eyes and see God calling us onwards and upwards towards ‘glorious living’.
Prayer (as a couple)
Father, we’re sorry for all the times we’ve taken our eyes off you and become unable to see you big picture. Help us today realise that you are even more passionate than we are that our marriage should be the best that it can be. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father, we pray for _____ and _____ as they struggle with (… be as specific as you are able). Help them to have your vision for their marriage and to be able to see above and beyond the immediate difficulties. Amen.
