We understand what love is when we realisethat Christ gave his life for us. That means we must give our lives for each other (in this case of husband/wife). 1 John 3:16

Most of us must have seen the famous footprints poem; it is seen everywhere reproduced on cards, tea-towels, posters etc. When the question is asked, “Where were you God when I was in trouble?” God answers, “When the two parallel sets of footprints become one set, I was carrying you.”
Perhaps the poem could be re-interpreted as indicating the times in our marriages when, with God’s help we have to carry our husband or wife through a difficult time, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for richer for poorer.
How is this looking in your relationship at the moment?
Prayer (as a couple)
On our wedding day we made some very powerful promises, Father God please help us when we have to carry our wife or husband through a difficult time, perhaps even now! Give us the strength and perseverance needed to be the needed support.
