Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

This week has heralded the start of lent and lots of talk about people giving up things. A while ago a post by a pastor entitled ‘Why I’m getting a Divorce’ went viral. The blogger talked about his creeping realization that his phone was stealing his attention away from his wife, so he announced that he is getting a divorce from his phone.
Social media, apps, texts etc can all steal our attention away from the person closest to us and there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to talk to someone when you don’t have their full attention.
What’s grabbing your attention away from your spouse? Perhaps it’s people rather than technology? Or something else?
Prayer (as a couple)
Father God, forgive us for the times when we get distracted from each other. Thank you for helping us to identify these areas and please nudge us when we get distracted again. Amen.
Prayer (for others)
Father God, please help ………….. and ……………. who seem so wrapped up in distractions from each other. Please open up lines of communication so that they can talk about this subject and re-engage with each other with your help. Amen.
Quote
Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Proverbs 4:23
