The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. Psalm 25 v 14 (Amplified Bible Classic edition)
Comment:
God has secrets to share with us. Why are they secret? Because they are hidden: not obvious. As we develop a relationship with the Lord as couples we will experience his “sweet satisfying companionship.”
Exploring his covenant together means an adventure where we discover his faithfulness and tender care as experience – not theory, over the years. Yes it’s true we can do this as individuals, but an extra dimension is available as we worship and pray together as couples, and “walk along” enjoying his friendship.
What do you value about your partner’s spiritual life? Share this with them? Thank God for each other.
Prayer (as a couple):
Lord we are so privileged to have you as our friend and companion. Show us how to be together in this and not just individuals knowing you. We invite you to live with us in our home and we look forward to you revealing your covenant to us. Please help us understand you and each other better. Amen
Prayer (for others):
Do you know a couple who (as yet) do not know the Lord? Please Lord help _____ and _____ to recognize who you are and come to faith. Help them to understand they can know you as a couple as well as individually. Please show us opportunities to help them in this. Amen
Final quote:
All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. Psalm 25 v 10 AMPC
