God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction. Psalm 23:1-3 (MSG)

Many of us know these verses so well we almost forget what the impact of them. We are in a season that is overwhelmingly tiring. The news is tiring, the endless dull days are tiring, the lack of hope for things changing soon is … tiring. I love to imagine God ‘bedding us down in lush meadows’; that feel of cool mossy grass against my cheek as I sink into it and drink from life giving clear pools of water. God wants to give us perfect rest so that we are able to get up refreshed and ‘head off in the right direction’.
How can you find rest in this season? How can you encourage your partner to rest?
Prayer (as a couple)
Father God, we commit our rest times to you again. Help us prioritise relaxation together and refresh us as only you can. Amen.
Prayer (for others)
Father God, we pray for ______ and _______ who seem constantly rushed off their feet. Please help them to find some time to rest and give us ideas in which we can help them with that. Amen
