He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’ — Psalm 46:10

Comment

The days between Christmas and New Year often feel suspended — a pause between what has been and what’s to come. The rush has eased, the days are quiet, and there’s a rare invitation to simply be.

This week can hold a mixture of feelings: gratitude, tiredness, reflection, even a little melancholy. All of it belongs. Rest doesn’t have to be tidy or productive; it just needs space to breathe.

In relationships, this in-between time can be a gift — a chance to rest side by side, to notice each other again, and to let peace settle before the year begins anew.

Reflection

How might you use this quieter week to rest — together and alone — before stepping into the new year?

Prayer suggestion (as a couple)

Ask God to refresh your hearts and renew your energy for the season ahead.

Prayer suggestion (for another couple)

Pray for a couple who may be feeling weary — that they would find real rest and restoration.

Final quote

“Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest and let your soul catch up with your body.”
