“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
Comment
As Lent begins, we’re invited to slow down and notice what’s shaping our days and our relationships. Lent isn’t about striving or self-improvement; it’s about creating space — space to breathe, to listen, and to attend to what really matters.
In the busyness of life, even good things can crowd out the essential ones. This season offers a gentle pause — a chance to notice what we might need to loosen our grip on, and what we want to hold more carefully.
In relationships, making space often begins with attention: choosing presence over distraction, listening over fixing, and connection over convenience.
Reflection
What feels most important for you to tend to in your relationship right now?
Is there anything that might need a little less space in order to make room for it?
Prayer suggestion (as a couple)
Ask God to help you notice what truly matters in this season, and to give you wisdom to create space for it together.
Prayer suggestion (for another couple)
Pray for a couple who feel stretched or overwhelmed — that they would find clarity, rest, and renewed focus.
Final quote
“What we make space for is what we grow.”
