“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6

Comment

As Lent continues, we often become more aware of what feels unresolved — patterns that haven’t shifted, conversations still waiting to happen, hopes that remain tender or unclear.

Our instinct can be to rush toward resolution, to tidy things up quickly. Yet growth doesn’t always move at the pace we’d like. Sometimes the invitation is not to fix what’s unfinished, but to stay with it — with patience, honesty, and compassion.

In relationships, this kind of staying can be deeply loving. It says, I’m still here, even though we haven’t worked it all out yet.

Reflection

Is there something unfinished in your relationship that feels uncomfortable to sit with?

What might it look like to stay present with it, rather than rush past it?

Prayer suggestion (as a couple)

Ask God for patience and grace as you live with what is still unfolding in your relationship.

Prayer suggestion (for another couple)

Pray for a couple who are waiting for change or clarity — that they would not lose heart in the waiting.

Final quote

“Not everything that is unfinished is failing.”
