The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
Comment
All Hallows’ Eve — the evening before All Saints’ Day — reminds us that light and darkness often sit side by side. It’s a time when many pause to remember those who have gone before us and to give thanks for their lives and their faith.
Marriage, too, lives through seasons of both shadow and brightness. There are moments of laughter and celebration, and there are moments that ask for courage, patience, and hope. Yet even when things feel uncertain, God’s light still flickers faithfully within us and between us.
Perhaps tonight, as the nights draw in and candles are lit, we can remember that love’s light — however small — still has power to warm, to guide, and to comfort.
Reflection
What lights help you find your way through darker times — faith, love, friendship, hope? How can you keep that light alive together?
Prayer suggestion (as a couple)
Light a candle together and thank God for the love that has carried you through. Pray that His light will keep shining in your home and hearts.
Prayer suggestion (for another couple)
Pray for a couple walking through a hard season — that they would sense light breaking through the darkness.
Final quote
There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. Edith Wharton
