Anyone who meets a testing challenge head on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate.  For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.  James 1:12 (MSG)

Picture two climbers persevering to get to the ‘crowning’ view.  When you climb mountains, it is nearly always done in pairs, roped together for security and firmly anchored to the rocks at regular intervals for safety.

During the climb there will be periods of gentle slopes, some deep difficult patches, with every so often some beautiful views, which help to draw you on further.  The higher you climb the greater the reward, the more magnificent the view.

Stay roped together, anchored to God and climbing steadily – the views get better and better.

Take some time to be quiet and prayerful before God and then share your thoughts with your spouse.  You may make decisions that will change the way you live as He helps you to be determined, disciplined and dependent on His Spirit at work in us.

Prayer (as a couple)

Father, help us to persevere in our marriage, keep roped together and anchored in you, to relax when the going is easy, to gain strength from you when we are negotiating a difficult patch and to ‘enjoy the view’ of a blessed marriage relationship.

Prayer (for others)

Father we pray for ____ and _____ who are going through a difficult time in their relationship at present.  Give them the strength to persevere and to catch a glimpse of how much you long to bless their relationship.
