Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

As I was considering this eprayer our dog came and put her head on my lap and looked at me and wagged her tail…. aaah.
Pepper (the dog) with her trust and devotion often reminds me of how I am supposed to be with God. Sometimes I forget who I am, how much God loves me and what Jesus has done for me. I forget I am a new creation: forgiven, rescued, redeemed and being restored, in the power of the Holy Spirit. And when this happens I feel lost and frankly I’m not nice to be with.
Surrounded by the pressures of the world it is easy to forget who we are.
Do you need to remember who you are, have you lost or forgotten your identity?
Prayer (as a couple)
Dear Lord, Thank you that you have made me a new creation, that I have a new identity. Thank you that through Jesus my relationship with you is restored. Lord I am sorry that I forget who I am and end up behaving like a ‘person of the world’ not a new creation. Help my new identity to be obvious in the way I behave in my relationship with _____. Give me wisdom, strength and protection from Identity loss I pray. Amen.
Prayer (for others)
Dear Lord. We pray for _____ and _____ Help and protect them from loss of identity. Help them to remember who they are, how much you love them and what you have done for them. Please protect them from identity loss. May their God given identity be obvious to all around in the way that they behave. Amen.

“We do not know that at the centre of our beingwe find not ourselves but another, that our identity is in another, that turning inwards and finding ourselves is to fall into the arms of another.”
