Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride. Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone. Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth. Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things.  1 Corinthians 13:4-7

A couple of years ago my husband and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary and in the same month our daughter got married.  It was really powerful at our daughter’s wedding to stop and be reminded of those vows we had taken years ago and our commitment to each other.

This week is Marriage Week and it’s good to take time out to remind each other of the vows we took and check how we’re doing?

Are we cherishing each other?

Are we loving each other ‘in all things without giving up’?

Why not remind yourself of the vows you committed to when you married? You can find the traditional marriage vows here.

Prayer (as a couple)

Dear Lord, we thank you for the vows we made to each other on our wedding day.  Please help us keep committed to loving each other in for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death parts us.  Amen

Prayer (for others)

Dear Lord, we pray for _____ and _____.  Help them to step up in their commitment to each other and help us to support them.  Amen
