Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31 NLV

Weariness does not just affect our work life. We can get weary with our marriage and our family life too. Sometimes it registers with us as a sort of boredom or feeling “used up.”

Our culture prescribes time off as the remedy. But you can’t have time off from your marriage or family!

God’s remedy is waiting on him. What does that mean? It means waiting for His help – silent and expectant in his presence. Just being!

He doesn’t disappoint! Why not try it?

Prayer (as a couple)

Lord we are so busy doing and speaking. We find it hard to stop and wait for each other much less You.  We are weary. Help us find strength in you by stopping and waiting on you. Help us walk together with you and not get weary or give up. Amen

Prayer (for others)

We pray for the marriages we know through work, our friends and our wider family. Lord we pray for any who feel weary and exhausted coping with their present circumstances. Please show them how to renew their strength in you this summer especially while they are on holiday Amen
