Praise be to the Lord for He showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city. In my alarm I said “I am cut off from your sight!” Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. Love the Lord all his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful but the proud He pays back in full. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:21-24
Comment
Have you ever felt trapped with nowhere to escape? Enemies used to starve a besieged city out. This is called oppression in Bible terms and it can still happen today. We feel as if disaster is looming and we can’t see a way forward. The Psalmists draw on their past memories of God’s help to encourage them for TODAY. We can do the same.
Do you feel trapped or stuck? Draw on your experience of God together or read some more Psalms! You can use these verses in Psalm 31 as a prayer or use ours below.
