|And in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18
One of the reasons praying together can be a challenge is that we can be motivated by different things.
Which is the way that you are most motivated towards prayer? Is it by scripture, pictures, silence, worship, action, symbols – or something else? It can be a real help for each of us to understand what helps the other to engage in prayer.
Why not take a moment to think about that together before you pray.
Prayer (as a couple)
Father, thank you that you hear all kinds of prayers and that you love for us to share our hearts with you. Thank you for ___ and the way that we compliment and complete each other. Thank you that is true in our prayer life as well and that he/she opens my eyes to insights that I probably would not have on my own. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father, we pray for ___ and __. Help them to value the ways in which they differ from each other and to enjoy the diversity and richness that brings into their life together. Amen
