One of the reasons praying together can be a challenge is that we can be motivated by different things.
Which is the way that you are most motivated towards prayer? Is it by scripture, pictures, silence, worship, action, symbols – or something else? It can be a real help for each of us to understand what helps the other to engage in prayer.
Why not take a moment to think about that together before you pray.

Father, thank you that you hear all kinds of prayers and that you love for us to share our hearts with you. Thank you for ___ and the way that we compliment and complete each other. Thank you that is true in our prayer life as well and that he/she opens my eyes to insights that I probably would not have on my own. Amen
