Over the holiday season we’re going to be looking at the book of proverbs and how we can use use this book’s wisdom in our marriage.
The reverent fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. For by Wisdom shall your days be multiplied and the years of your life shall be increased. Proverbs 9 v 10
Comment
It’s easy to be wise after the event! – We sometimes choose to learn the hard way! However God holds out to us a better way. We can choose to both fear and know the Lord in our homes and families.
If we do, he promises us insight and understanding – the value of this is huge: situations arising, our work and children. In addition we are promised longer life. That’s because we shall take fewer risks and walk safer paths.
How can we fear the Lord together as a couple. How can we encourage each other to know the Lord?
Prayer (as a couple)
Lord Jesus You are the way the truth and the life. Help us to respect your ways, the truth you have shown us and the life you lived. Help us to cultivate obedience and help us to know you day by day in our home. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father we pray for _____ and _____ who need your wisdom. They do not know what to do for the best. We pray for their faith in you to be strong and that they will experience you as they try to find the way forward. Give them your wisdom. Amen
Final quote
Whoever finds wisdom finds life and obtains favour from the Lord. Proverbs 8:35
