Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. Luke 2:51
Mary treasured the events of Jesus childhood in her heart, particularly this episode at the temple courts where the young boy was engaging with the learned teachers in a way that ‘amazed’ the people and ‘astonished’ his parents. Those who are parents will probably relate to this – we really treasure particular memories, even the small domestic details.
This Sunday is Mothers Day. Whilst the commercialism and focus of elevating motherhood on one day is a little sad, it’s still a good thing to appreciate our mums. What memories do you treasure?
Prayer (as a couple)
Spend some time together thanking God for the mothers in your life (this could be your mum, your grandmother, your partner as a mother to your children, or someone who acted as a mother to you).
Prayer (for others)
Think of a couple who will struggle with Mothers Day. Ask God that they will be able to drawer near to each other and find comfort together.
If evolution really works, how comes mothers only have two hands?
