Money worries

‘So do not worry, saying, ‘what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or what shall we wear?’ for the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own. Matthew 6:31-34

Credit crunch; negative equity; inflation increase. The headlines shout at us and make it hard to keep our hearts and minds where we’d like them to be in the context of the above verses.

This week I walked across the garage forecourt thinking, ‘Did I really just put that much money in my fuel tank?’

Let’s come to God this week, being honest with Him, and each other, about the reality of our financial situation – and our feelings about it, remembering that ‘your heavenly Father knows that you need these things’.

Prayer (as a couple)

Father, thank you for all that you have given to us in financial and practical terms throughout our marriage. Help us as we face together our financial future, whatever uncertainty or difficulty that may hold. Keep us in peace as we rely on you. Amen

Prayer (for others)

Father, we pray for ___ and ___ as we see the apparent struggle that their finances bring to them. Help them to be realistic as they face the situation and to remain united rather than driven apart by it. Amen

Final Quote

For richer, for poorer
