So what does Joy mean anyway? 

In her book Choose Joy because Happiness isn’t Enough, Kay Warren states that ‘Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright and the determined choice to praise him in all things’.

I love this statement, it’s so easy for us to pursue happiness which is completely connected to what’s happening to us on the external circumstances of our lives but pursuing Joy brings something much more powerful and transforming.

Are you both pursuing Joy in your marriage?  Are you praising God in all things?

Spend some time thanking God for the fact that He is in control of your life.

Prayer for others

Pray for a couple who seem to pursue happiness and ask God to give them a joy in their marriage.
