Making time for your marriage

If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.  Deuteronomy 24 v 5

Comment

This verse is SO encouraging – God is saying ‘Stop, take some time out, invest in your relationship.’

And it isn’t just for newlyweds!

Taking time out together as a couple is a vital opportunity to reconnect, restore and ‘bring happiness’ to each other, whether it’s a night, a weekend or a year!

It’s also a great gift to give to other couples, either through financial help, offering to look after children, or offering your home whilst you’re away.

When’s your next date night?  How could you invest in another couple’s relationship?

Prayer (as a couple)

Lord thank you for the great times we’ve had just the two of us as a couple, help us to keep intentional about investing in time together.  Amen

Prayer (for others)

Heavenly Father, we pray for _____ and ______ who are desperate for some time together.  Please help them find the time they need.  Amen.

Final quote

If conversation was the lyrics, laughter was the music, making time spent together a melody that could be replayed over and over without getting stale.  Nicholas Spark
