Love That Goes All the Way

“Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” — John 13:1

Comment

Good Friday draws us to the heart of the Christian story — a love that does not turn away from suffering, cost, or sacrifice. It is a love that stays, even when the way is painful and uncertain.

In our relationships, we too encounter moments when love is tested — when words fail, answers are unclear, and all we can do is remain present. Good Friday reminds us that love does not always fix or resolve; sometimes it simply stays.

Today is not about trying harder or saying more. It is about honouring a love that goes all the way — and allowing ourselves to be held by it.

Reflection

Where might you be invited simply to stay present — with God, with your partner, or with something unresolved?

Prayer suggestion (as a couple)

Sit quietly together and place whatever feels heavy or unfinished into God’s care.

Prayer suggestion (for another couple)

Hold in prayer a couple who are walking through loss, pain, or deep uncertainty — that they would know they are not alone.

Final quote

“Love is most clearly seen not in its triumphs, but in its willingness to stay.”
