At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Matthew 11:25
Comment
Sometimes we can take ourselves a little bit too seriously! Children need laughter and joy and so do we. Laughing at ourselves can be a good place to start. Jesus used humour. For example he talked about the futility of a camel trying to pass through the eye of a needle and the blind leading the blind so that both end up in the ditch! There was always a point of course: we learn just as much when we laugh as when we are serious. Perhaps we can learn from family fun this summer?
What can children help you see about yourself?
Prayer (as a couple):
Father thank you for our children. They often see things clearly which we are blind to. Yet often our response is to feel offended when what they see challenges us. Help us to humble our hearts and also to have fun together over this summer when we holiday together. May we learn simplicity and clarity from our children. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father we pray for Christian camps this summer. Help families to learn together about you and worship you together. When they go home help them to take what they have learned home with them and may it strengthen their lives together. Amen
