A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

When was the last time you experienced joy together? Perhaps it was some happy news or a celebration. Really we need to be cultivating joy in our marriage on a regular basis to protect our marriage from ‘being a crushed spirit that dries up the bones’. Having fun together can often bring joy. As part of National Marriage Week we produced the following tips:
- Plan adventures together – this can be big or small. Visiting a new city or exploring all the coffee shops in your area. Try new things (have you heard of alphabet dating?)
- Diary in time for fun. Spontaneity is great but if we don’t diary time in during a busy season it might not happen.
- Find things to laugh about. From the crazy things small children do to a programme on tv. What makes you laugh?
Prayer (as a couple)
Father, thank you for the joy and fun we experience together. Help us to cultivate more of it. Amen
Prayer (for others)
Father, we pray for _____ and _____. Would you bring joy to their marriage. Would you help them to find things to laugh about and have fun with. Amen
