Though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the LORD holds us by the hand. Psalm 37:24 New RSV

If he stumbles, he’s not down for long; GOD has a grip on his hand. Psalm 37:24 MSG

Comment

Are we a couple who agonise over decisions? OR perhaps we are impulsive? What if we take a wrong turning? Will our lives and our children’s lives be ruined? How can we be sure of God’s will? Sometimes God leads us along risky paths – are we just fools? Personally we have chosen to trust God and travel some of those risky paths. The pathway was not always smooth and easy but God had us secure in His hand. On lookers may well have thought we were fools even if they graciously kept it to themselves! Even if we are foolish, God loves us and his faithfulness is not in doubt! What about you two? How can you encourage each other this April Fool’s day?

Prayer (as a couple)

Father, We are so grateful for your kind presence with us. Help us to know You better so that your wisdom rules in our lives. Help us not to despise each other when we are foolish but help us love each other like you love us. Please keep your firm grip on us together Amen

Prayer (for others)

Lord God – we pray for A and B. Help them in their decision making. Bring them to a united decision. Guide them and give them your wisdom. Above all may they know your love and faithfulness around them so they are able to forward trusting you. Amen

Final quote

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
